Frequently Asked Questions – Lowes Florida
How do we price your sheds, and how do we show the customer what the shed will look like?
Use our 3D configurator to design a shed. This configurator will calculate pricing based on the shed size/style and any options your customer has chosen. You can then send this to your customer.
Are the materials used in your sheds able to withstand the Florida weather and elements?
Absolutely. The 4”×4” runners under the shed, the 2”×4” floor joists, and the 5/8” floors are all pressure treated, which provides protection against moisture and insects. Our wall sheathing (LP Smartside) is specifically manufactured to allow it to be resistant to the same types of hazards that pressure treated materials are. All sheds are outfitted with straps, windows and doors that meet Florida’s rigorous building code.
Do you anchor the sheds into the ground? How much does this cost?
Yes, all High Point Buildings sheds are anchored into the ground by our installers. This is included free of charge.
Can our customers design the shed exactly as they like, or do your sheds come built a specific way with regard to size and door placement?
All of our sheds are custom designed by you and your customers exactly as they want it. You simply choose a style (Gable, Estate Barn, Barn or Lean-to), and from there the customer can choose whatever size they want, where they want the doors, where they want windows (if any), etc. Use our 3D designer to design your customer a shed and obtain pricing.
Do your sheds come standard with a floor, shingles and paint?
Yes, all sheds come standard with these items. Everything you need for a finished shed comes standard with our buildings.
Do your sheds come standard with windows?
No, windows are optional. Some customers do not want windows, so we make these add-ons that customers can buy if they want.
What sizes do you offer?
We offer sheds as small as 6’ x 6’ and as large as 14’ x 40’.
What areas do you serve?
We serve the entire state of Florida.
How long will it take to receive a shed?
We can typically deliver it to your customer within 4-6 weeks (certain times of year may be longer).
How much is delivery, and how does the building get to our home?
Delivery is FREE, as long as your customer is within 20 miles of a Lowes store.
Do the sheds come already built, or do you build them on site?
Typically, our sheds arrive already constructed. We deliver them on a truck and walk them into the customer’s yard with our equipment. We can build the sheds on site for an additional fee of 15% (there are minimum charges, see the pricing sheets).
How must the site be prepared for delivery?
The shed must rest on a concrete pad, gravel pad, or concrete pavers (blocks). It is not recommended that the shed rest directly on grass. High Point Buildings does not install concrete or gravel pads, but may be able to recommend contractors who can build a pad for you. The delivery driver can set the shed on concrete pavers and level it (‘Block & Level’), but there is a $250 charge to do so.
Do you recommend a certain type of surface over another?
All of the surfaces are suitable, but we believe that a gravel pad is the best of all possible surfaces. The gravel allows for rain and moisture to permeate through it and into the ground. A concrete pad provides excellent structural support, but the downside is that it is the most expensive of the three options, and there is potential for water to pool on the pad surface and corrode the 4”x4” skids. Our “Block & Level” is the cheapest of the three options and is perfectly fine for smaller sheds, but we do not recommend it for sheds larger than 10’x14’ due to support issues.
How can I tell if there is enough room to deliver a shed?
We generally need 2’ more than the width of the shed the customer is purchasing. Height may also be an issue, but as long as the driver has 12’-14’ of overhead clearance available, there should not be a problem. So, a 10’x18’ shed will require a minimum 12’ of clearance to get the shed in their yard (assuming it is a straight shot). If we have to make turns to get the shed where it goes, we will need additional clearance. In needed, the customer may need to remove a portion of their fence in order to provide access.
Do customers need a permit? Will you process permits for them?
The customer may need a permit, so they will want to check with their local jurisdiction. The customer may also have community covenants that will need to be adhered to. We have a permit runner service that your customer can use should they want to. The charge is $550 for this service.
If I move, can my customer take their shed with them?
Yes. Unlike most buildings that are built on site and are permanent structures, the customer can easily transport our shed to a new location.
Is there a warranty on your buildings?
Yes, there is a three-year warranty on any defects related to materials or workmanship. Many of our material suppliers also offer manufacturer’s warranties.
Who do we call if we have questions?
